Perhaps you have heard of prevention and treatment of yeast infection through all-natural methods such as the use of herbal medicines and having a proper diet. But have you heard of exercise as part of these all-natural methods?
Some people might think that exercise, like swimming or intense cardio workout, can actually worsen yeast infection as you sweat a lot and increase body heat, which can make certain areas of the body more inviting for Candida albicans to thrive uncontrollably. But the truth is exercise works in two amazing ways when it comes to yeast infection problems: it boosts your immune system and it brings balance back to your body.
Boosting the Immune System
We all know that yeast infection results from the abnormal multiplication of Candida albicans beyond what the body can allow. This could happen because of a person’s weakened immune system. With a weakened immune system, the body practically is defenseless in controlling the upsurge of certain microorganisms in the body, even friendly ones, which is most likely to end up as an infection.
Those with sedentary lifestyle, especially when paired with poor eating habits and smoking and drinking, are found out to have poor immune system. On the other hand, those who get sufficient amount of regular exercise have stronger immune system, therefore great at fighting off invading microorganisms, as well as maintaining those that are naturally in the body under control. Getting regular exercise is a great way to fend off occurrence of yeast infection, especially among those who recurrently get infected, plus it also promotes weight loss and prevents heart diseases and osteoporosis.
Bringing the Balance Back
When Candida albicans multiply beyond normal count, there sure is some imbalance going on in the body. To bring back the count of this fungus to normal, one must build up a number of naturally occurring good bacteria in the body to help in doing so. Regular exercise can greatly help in maintaining this balance, or restoring it if it’s out of whack.
Exercise gets your heart and respiratory rates up, so fresh supply of oxygen is distributed throughout the cells of the body quicker. This, in turn, increases the pH level of your body. And if your body’s pH level is in the right amount, Candida albicans won’t be able to increase uncontrollably. So your likelihood of developing yeast infection is very little or, if you already have one, its further worsening is put off. In addition, toxins in the body are also eliminated through sweating. When you exercise, these accumulated toxins are easily rid of, making the body’s immune system work more efficiently – in this case, getting rid of yeast infection.
Sweating to Fight Off Yeast Infection
This, however, doesn’t mean you need to go to the gym right now and pump iron. Exercising to prevent and heal yeast infection can be as simple as walking for 20-60 minutes per day. Yes, it might sound that simple, but walking is considered by many as the most ideal form of exercise as it is very safe and can be done by almost anybody. But if you want a more challenging form of exercise, you can do swimming, ballroom dancing, volleyball or roller skating. You may also take up yoga, pilates, spinning or even boxing.
Just remember to take a shower, dry out completely, and put on clean clothes as soon as you are done with exercising, to really maximize its benefits on preventing and getting rid of yeast infection.
